Farm 12 Wedding in WA | Rachel + Stephen
Some weddings just hit different, and Rachel and Stephen’s day at Farm 12, WA, was one of those for me. Having been close friends with them for years, it was deeply emotional to witness them say "I do" and to be part of a love story I’ve watched grow for so long. Sam (my husband) captured the entire wedding with the help of an amazing second shooter, while I had the absolute joy of being with the bridesmaids—laughing, crying, and soaking in every moment of the morning. The connection and history made it all so special, and I could feel it in every part of the day.
One of my favorite moments was seeing Rachel step into her two-layered dress for the ceremony—it was so elegant, timeless, and felt so “her.” After the ceremony, we headed into downtown Tacoma for city photos, and the energy there was incredible. Industrial edges mixed with their soft, joyful love made for the most magical contrast. But nothing compared to the golden-hour glow in the lupine field at their venue. It was like the earth itself was celebrating with them—sunlight pouring over wildflowers, laughter in the air, and Rachel and Stephen looking completely at home in each other’s arms.
It’s always a gift to photograph a wedding, but it’s something entirely different when you’re also holding history with the couple. Watching their love come to life in front of the lens and celebrating as a friend behind it is something I’ll never forget. There was a warmth to the entire day that felt like coming home. Every toast, every dance, every quiet glance between them—it all held this weight of deep love and years of friendship. It reminded me why I love this work so much. Being part of their day, both as a friend and a storyteller, was such a full-circle moment, and I’m just so grateful to have been there for it all, especially in a place as beautiful and meaningful as Farm 12.
